The Arts Council of the Century City Chamber of Commerce and Artadia invite you to this informative event providing an exclusive look into the grant selection process in contemporary art. Using Artadia’s methodology as the case study, we'll discuss public vs. private funding in the U.S. and explore Artadia's grant making process and impact. Our event will feature presentations by Artadia's Executive Director Carolyn Ramo and Los Angeles Artadia Awardees Gala Porras-Kim and Mariah Garnett, and an open Q&A session will follow.
Gala Porras-Kim is a 2017 Los Angeles Artadia Awardee. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia, received an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; FRAC Pays de la Loire, France; 44th Salon Nacional de Artistas, Pereira Museum, Colombia; the Los Angeles Public Art Biennial; the Made in LA biennial, and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles among many others.
Mariah Garnett is a 2016 Los Angeles Artadia Awardee. She holds an MFA from Calarts in Film/Video. Her work has been screened at international venues, including REDCAT (LA), White Columns (NY), SF MoMA (SF), Venice Bienniale (Swiss Off-site Pavillion), and Rencontres Internationales (Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Beirut), among many others.
The Arts Council of the Century City Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and providing leadership in Century City and its surrounding communities through the promotion and support of a broad range of artistic activities and initiatives.
