Position Summary
The Development Manager is a key member of the Development team with a range of activities to support fundraising and marketing, as well as administrative support for the department. This position is responsible for maintaining the donor management system. Working with the Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Marketing, the Development Manager will also create fundraising communications as well as digital and social media content to help increase brand awareness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Donor Management and Communications: Use DonorPerfect to record and track donor gifts, create acknowledgment letters, build mailing lists, create financial reports and build online donation forms. Use Constant Contact to create and send email appeals, invitations and monthly newsletter.
Special Appeals Management: Manage the annual Holiday Toy Drive, including creating print and online promotional content, building program wish lists and coordinating donation drop-offs. Manage the Monthly giving program through mailings and social media.
Event Management: Manage all aspects of special fundraising events including a golf tournament and VIP Art Preview, with tasks including creating/mailing invitations, developing online registration forms, managing RSVPs and guest inquiries, creating print and online promotional content, recruiting/managing volunteers, developing timelines and budgets; pre-event and day-of logistics; working with event vendors and consultants.
Marketing - Develop and update materials as part of marketing & communications strategy; Assist with design and production of ECF communications, including newsletters, event invitations, campaign materials, brochures, display advertising, fact sheets, success stories/testimonials, photos, and video; Assist with social media content and posting across multiple platforms; Collaborate with VP of Marketing & Communications to create content calendar for ECF monthly digital newsletter; Draft, edit website content.
Other Duties
Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment; Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements; Observe regular, on-site work hours; Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:
3+ years of experience in donor database management and Microsoft software, donor communication, and special event management; experience in media relations, marketing, communications, or related field.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
High degree of personal /professional responsibility with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and deadlines; Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; Dedicated team player with ability to work collaboratively with diverse staff at all levels; Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information; Experience using WordPress and Constant Contact, DonorPerfect; Experience using design software including Canva and social scheduling software and analytics; Advanced-level skills using MS Office; Excellent proofreading and strong attention to detail; And, a desire to make a difference in service to others.
Requirements
Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record; Pass a DOJ background investigation; Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter; Pass a pre-employment physical; Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment; Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Work Environment
Work site is in a building shared with a school for students (grades K–12th) who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress, or behaving in an aggressive manner. Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, varying indoor temperature, and drafts. Outdoor temperature and weather will vary. Occasionally required to travel to various sites within Los Angeles County.
