About Us
LA Art Labs (LAAL) is a leading Los Angeles-based art conservation studio specializing in the preservation and restoration of artworks across various mediums. LAAL has gained recognition for its meticulous approach to conserving both contemporary and historical works, reflected in frequent presentations, publications, and articles in both print and digital media, including the LA Times and New York Times. The studio’s expertise spans paintings, sculptures, and complex mixed-media works. LAAL oversees the physical well-being of some of the most significant private collections of art in the world as well as holdings at major museums notable for their collection’s incredible sophistication and breadth.
LAAL’s founder and principal conservator, Kamila M. Korbela, has cared for and treated artworks nationally for their public appreciation and internationally through local museums’ enterprising loan programs to institutions around the world. Kamila has worked on a wide range of projects, from local conservation treatments to international collaborations. Among the most recent and ongoing projects she is leading is a conservation initiative supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation at the Bengal Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Alongside her hands-on work, Kamila is deeply committed to building strong relationships with artists, collectors, and institutions—all of which are LA Art Labs’ clients—to ensure the long-term preservation of cultural heritage.
